There was something about the people in the grocery store today, they were really friendly to me. My first encounter was with a woman by the mangos. She was mumbling to herself. I looked at her thinking maybe she was talking to me and she grabbed my arm and said, “Oh I’m sorry, I’m just talking to myself.” And laughed it off.
sidenote: Later I saw her in the toilet paper aisle, she was still talking to herself but acknowledged me again.
I passed this old man and we exchanged smiles and went on our way. About 6 aisles later he stops me and says, “I’ve seen you at least 5 times in here today, do I get a prize if I see you again?” Of course you’ve seen me 5 times, we’re going the opposite direction through the aisles. Instead of saying what I was thinking, I said, “Do I get a prize too?” And he laughed thought it was hysterical.
A lot of people seemed to smile at me today and I was so confused as to why people were interacting with me today. Usually I am not touched or stopped and talked to. It wasn’t until another woman would stop me that I would figure it out. She says to me, “I love the color of your sweatshirt.” I was wearing a very bright green hoodie, a very distinguishable color. Because of the bright color, I think I stood out and people recognized me and that we had passed before, thus all the friendly smiles.
Tip#2 Don’t wear bright colors, if you don’t wanna be talked to.
