Juicing(not the steroid kind)
So it’s 9 day of my juice fast! I’m like a kid on Christmas Eve because I get to actually eat solid food tomorrow! I know what you’re thinking, this is was a 10 day juice fast. Why would I get to eat anything tomorrow? Well, because I actually started the night before day 1 around 6:00pm. It was completely on purpose, kind of like a loophole I guess, knowing I’d be way desperate on day 10. But whatever you call it, I don’t care. I get to eat something tomorrow!
Breaking the Fast
They say to add things like meat, dairy, sugar etc. back one at a time so you don’t overwhelm your body. Naturally, I’m going to add high fructose corn syrup back first. Kidding. I’ll probably just eat some whole fruit tomorrow night before I add anything else back in. I’m looking forward to chewing something.
Did it work?
I have not had a headache/migraine the entire time(minus the first detox day, but most people get a headache). It’s very, very rare for me to go 9 days without some kind of headache. I truly believe this juice fast has kept them away. A vitctory! And loss! A victory to know I can get rid of them. A loss to know it’s by drinking juice every day. Though, I am curious to see what the future holds. As I add things back, I’m going to try and pinpoint what the triggers are and change my diet accordingly. I do plan on limiting most of the things I ate before. Moderation is key. I’m not ready to commit to any kind of raw food diet…yet. I’m still going to juice in place of a meal for awhile, I’ll see how that goes.
I have been sleeping like a baby. It usually takes me a long time to fall asleep and then it’s so hard for me to wake up. I’ve been falling asleep really fast and waking up feeling great. So great, I can’t even fall back asleep for the 10 minutes Hubby is in the shower. Note: I never ever ever have a problem falling back asleep for those 10 minutes. It’s pretty cool to see I don’t need caffeine or sugar or anything to wake up.
I lost 7lbs in 9 days and that is without exercising. I pulled a muscle in my back the first half of the fast so I didn’t feel like working out. But, who am I kidding? I probably wouldn’t have worked out anyway. I have this thing against working out during the cold months.
Most people have said to me, “I could never do what you’re doing.” I think if someone offered them a million dollars, they could suddenly do what I am doing. I admit, I never had much motivation to change my diet, but when I discovered a juice fast could eliminate my migraines, I suddenly had motivation. I really would encourage anyone who sufferers from some kind of illness to give it a try and see if it works. Obviously even if you don’t have an illness now, it could help prevent future ones. Instead of thinking about doing it, just do it. There will always be some excuse not to.
Thanks for all the awesome notes of encouragement! Can I keep you all in my pocket and take you out when I’m feeling down so you can say nice stuff to me? You guys are great!
Future juice fast? Yes! I plan on it.
